Ikegami Plum Garden

Now it's time to see the Japanese plum trees. The best time to see the Japanese plum trees are from the end of February to the middle of March. I went to Ikegami Plum Garden in Ikegami, Oota-ward, Tokyo. About 70% of the plum trees were in bloom. They have 70 trees of the white plum and 220 trees of the red plum. There are 30 kinds of plum trees. They have not only the plum trees, but also 50 trees of the peony and 800 of the azalea.

Zaron Plum
Zaron plum is only 4 trees in Japan. It was brought from China. This plum bloom pair on one branch. It looks like the Chinese philosophers Confucius and Mencius make discussion on the seat. "Make discussion on the seat" calls Zaron in Japanese. The name of Zaron came from it.

Akebono Shidare Plum
The brunch of plum is overhanging. It was beautiful and gorgeous.

It's almost the plum curtain.

Before you enjoy seeing the cherry blossoms, I hope you will enjoy the Japanese plum trees too. It's not so gorgeous as the cherry blossoms, but the scent of  plum make you feel good. Spring is around the corner!!
