Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi
Two lion statures welcomed the customers in the entrance.
The lion stature in Trafalgar Square in London is the model of them. British sculptor made them for three years. People say if students taking an entrance exam touch the lion, they will pass the exam. I won't take an entrance exam, but I touched the lion for getting luck. It is the landmark in Nihonbashi.
There is five-story hall in the main building.
Vaulted celling
You can see a statue of a heavenly maiden in the center of the hall in the first floor. It was made by Gengen Sato in 1960. It took ten years to complete. This statue shows to greet customers with great cordiality. It is the basic philosophy of Mitsukoshi.
Can you see a woman playing a pipe organ on the second floor behind the statue? You can listen to the performance at 10 am,12 am and 3 pm from Friday to Sunday.
It was getting dark out side. The Christmas lights in front of Misukoshi was so beautiful.
I hope that you will enjoy shopping at the historic old department.
